Christian Faith Community Dam

Nigeria as a nation is hugely populated with farmers. Agriculture contribute about 45% to the nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and employs about 75% of the working population in Nigeria. It is proven true that agriculture is the largest economic activity in rural area where about 55% of the population live.

Of recent, agricultural activities in Nigeria is faced with enormous and various challenges ranging from insurgence, bandits or herders attack to lack reliable water supply which result in dwindling of farm yields to meet up with fast growing population which is now above 200 million. Currently, Nigeria is characterized by high dependence on food import. Malnutrition which is reported to be at high increase is affecting pregnant women and Children health.

To ease the tension or respond to the pending menace, Christian Faith Ministries with the contribution from partners and well wishers spent thousands of dollars on the community Dam which has brought robust farming activities in the area. This community Dam has made all season farming possible, crops like pepper, Arish potatoes, tomatoes and other vegetable crops are been farmed by the community.

Around the community Dam you can find industries precisely brick layers, they now depend on the community Dam to run their industries which create jobs for the community. The community Dam also feeds Christian Faith Ministries with water which is used for different purposes. And from time to time, herdsmen bring their cow to drink. More people are planning to make use of the Dam.

Looking at this, there is no gainsaying that the Dam is improving or contributing to the economic status of the community and to the entire nation.

We want more people to join us in building and empowering communities, this is crucial in peace building; we all need peace to peace a strong nation and better economic.
