I Left My Family For Christ

To John Yakubu, Christian Faith Institute is not just a training ground but also a home for the homeless. This has been the testimony of many other students on campus who abandoned their homes for the sake of the gospel. John Yakubu, a year two student at the Bible College and also a student with the fashion and designing department of the vocational institute, is a native of Jos East Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Upon leaving his family for Christian Faith Institute (Bible College) to become more rooted in Christ, John also got the privilege of learning fashion and designing as this has been his passion for a long time. Surprisingly, John has never been in school except for the opportunity he got from a pastor in his locality to be a partaker of the blessings in the Bible College and the ministry in general.

He said he had a great encounter as he heard a voice audibly saying he will stand on the altar and preach about Jesus. With this, he added, “I did not have peace of mind from the day I heard the strange voice”. All of these happened while he was still a Pagan, but with the conviction he got and as fate will have it, he did not get any challenge from his family when he decided to leave home for college considering his religion.

On reaching the college, he got a warm welcome and is receiving even more than expected because he is under the scholarship scheme with the school coupled with the fact that he is simultaneously undergoing a skill in fashion and designing for free as well, which he never thought could ever happen. The skills in fashion and designing will be of great importance to him and his hometown as many others too will get to learn the skill from him and hear the message of the cross.

John is grateful to the institution for giving him the opportunity and a conducive environment to become that which God wants him to be and is not regretting any decision he has made so far. His wish is that God will continue to enable the ministry and give them more grace together with all those that are helping him and many others as well. “Indeed, coming to CFM is worth leaving home”, he added.

For a student like John who is getting all these for free, there are people behind who are making sure that John and any other student on campus get the privilege of staying in school. Nothing is too small to give and become a part of the blessings of God through students like this as a single person cannot achieve it all alone. We must all put our hands together to take CFM to an even greater heights.
