“I had dreams that led me to Christ. My grandfather had
become a Christian when he was treated for leprosy at a Christian hospital. This
got my attention. When I told my Muslim husband he didn’t have a problem, but
his family members insisted he divorce me. He refused and so the family
rejected him. I started attending a nearby church and the pastor is a graduate
of CFM. He introduced me to CFM and my husband agreed for me to come, and also
that our youngest child should be educated here. He cautioned me that I should
make sure she is trained in a godly way. My daughter is with me, and she is 4
years old. My husband presently has
become an object of hate to his family because he insists on keeping me as his
wife. In his words he said, ‘I will never want my children to have a step-mother
or grow up in a polygamous family, except if my first wife is not alive.’”
Abubakar had two dreams calling him to carry his cross, so
we found a church. When his father found out he tried to kill him, but Abubakar
escaped. His father sent police after him and they locked him up for 19 days.
He refused to deny his faith. Eventually he was released, and he fled to an
uncle’s place. He fled again to the transport park and in the morning,
Abubakar’s uncle arrived with many men and surrounded Abubakar to kill him. But
the other men at the transport park (all Muslim) stood for Abubakar and said he
is old enough to choose his faith. Abubakar entered the transport vehicle to
Jos and found an ECWA church. The pastor brought him to CFM’s discipleship
centre. “I am grateful for all the Lord is using CFM to do in my life and thank
God for all those who help support what God is doing.”
“I was raised a Christian, but I was not serious. I wanted
things my family could not provide for me. This led me to join a gang. The gang
led me into drinking, robberies, sales of drugs and other criminal activities.
I wanted to follow Christ, but after 6 years of crime I hardly knew how to
begin. A friend advised me to come to CFM. The gang chased me, trying by all
means to get me back. In April 2021, I visited my parent’s home. Members of the
gang came and asked for me, but my brother refused to tell them where I was, so
they shot him dead. I escaped and ran into the bush where I spent the night.
The next morning, I ran from the district. Members of the gang followed me to
Bukuru (a town close to CFM.) I went directly to the police station and
reported what was happening. God has been helping me to hold on to him. God is
using CFM as a source of blessing, and I am very grateful.”
