Edward Tomabakim is one of the international students from Cameroun
who came to Christian Faith Institute to study theology. He is now studying at degree level.
Like many other students, Edward’s concern for his people
grows daily as he learns more about Christ. Considering where he comes from,
Edward feels his people need the truth he has heard and witnessed with his eyes
here in Christian Faith Ministries.
Narrating the condition of his people at home, Edward said
that his community is ravaged by lawless men who have decided to fight for themselves. These armed groups are not different from those mentioned in Emmanuel’s story
as both Edward and Emmanuel are from the same region or country.
According to Edward, these armed groups oppose government forces
on any issue and therefore gunshots are heard day and night. Both children
and adults live in fear, many have left their houses to live in refugee camps, youths have decided
to engage in all kinds of violence because they don’t have the knowledge of
the gospel. Underage girls are exploited in sex trafficking.
In his words, “Children are told to lie down any time they hear gunshots because armed groups exchange bullets with government forces. Many have dropped out of school and many schools have been closed down. If not for the intervention of God, I wouldn’t have come to Christian Faith Institute. I almost joined these armed groups because I didn’t have the light I have now received here. My people need this light. I weep for my community anytime I think about the life many are living, most especially when I compare the knowledge I had before coming to Christian Faith Institute with the knowledge I have now learnt”.

Edward’s joy is that he has not only found the truth, but he has
also acquired vocational skills in catering and shoe making which according to
him are enough to keep him going. According to Edward, “I have been given access
to these skills free of charge which to me is something great.”
Join Christian Faith Ministries to pray for Edward’s
community for God’s intervention.
